The getenergy Team have recently returned from our hugely successful and formative Iraq event, held in the city of Basra. The workshops, hosted across 17th-18th October, were a resounding success and important steps were made to address training and education for the developing Iraq oil and gas sector. The workshops served as the gateway for open and honest conversation, using best practice experience and voices from across the industry, to address the issues.
Feedback received by getenergy staff, both at the event and in subsequent feedback forms, has been universally positive. Initial response reveals that the event was well timed for Iraq’s developing industry, but most crucially that this must serve as the catalyst for continued work of this nature.
With sustained support of the Iraq Ministry of Oil, getenergy is now in the formative stages of creating a new organisation called IPETA which will serve as an industry alliance between ourselves, the Ministry of Oil and the Iraqi oil and gas industry as a whole. The body will focus on the evolving strategy for education and training in the industry and serve as a member led organisation.
