Getenergy for GCC COUNTRIES 2009

Under the patronage of HE. Dr Abdul-Hussain Ali Mirza, Minister of Oil and Gas Affairs, Chairman of the National Oil and Gas Authority, getenergy for GCC COUNTRIES 2009 took place place at the Gulf Hotel, Bahrain on 16th – 17th November 2009.

The event was sponsored by BAPCO and operated an innovative format over two days. The objective of the event was to build on the community created by 2008′s getenergy : Refining & Petrochemical Event.

The event sought to link together education and training providers from various countries with the oil and gas industry in the GCC to strengthen ties and to launch a marketplace for skills in oil and gas for the region.

On its opening day, the event was addressed by His Excellency Dr Ali Mirza and Lord Digby Jones (UK Business Ambassador) as well as the Chief Executive of getenergy, Mr Phil Andrews.

The event hosted a Learning Arena exhibition featuring education, training and qualifications provides and offered a packed day of discussions between the leading figures responsible for training and education of the workforce from most of the region’s major oil/gas operating companies.

Representatives came from UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait and Iraq. Exchange sessions led to fruitful meetings between all participants. Following the opening, all participants were  addressed by the President of the Arabian Society for Human Resource Managers (ASHRM) and then generously hosted by the training and education team at BAPCO for discussions and a lunch at the BAPCO club.
